Position Overview
Newcastle Public Schools is seeking a high-energy, ethical, and qualified leader to serve as the Head Football Coach. The successful candidate will be responsible for the total operation of the football program (Grades 7-12), fostering a culture of academic excellence, sportsmanship, and physical development.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Program Leadership: Oversee all aspects of the football program, including varsity, junior varsity, and middle school teams.

Instructional Excellence: Plan and implement daily practices focused on fundamental skills, team strategy, and safety.

Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSSAA rules, including the "Link Rule" regarding student transfers, and all Newcastle Board of Education policies.

Student Support: Monitor student-athlete academic eligibility and conduct; mentor athletes in character development and "Life After Football."

Health & Safety: Ensure all athletes have valid physical evaluations on file. Implement injury prevention protocols in coordination with athletic trainers.

Administrative Duties: Manage the program budget, maintain an accurate equipment inventory, and coordinate team travel.

Community Relations: Act as a professional representative of the district in interactions with parents, boosters, and the Newcastle community.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Certification: * Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate (preferred).
Must meet the State Board of Education certification standards for Head Coaches (effective 2025).

Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.

Current CDL or plans to obtain one within an agreeable timeline. 

Mandatory Training: Completion of NFHS courses: Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion in Sports, Sudden 

Cardiac Arrest, and Heat Illness Prevention.

Experience: Previous head coaching or coordinator experience at the high school or collegiate level is strongly preferred.

Legal: Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.

Physical Demands
Ability to demonstrate motions usual to football (running, lifting up to 50 lbs, throwing).
Ability to work in various weather conditions and during evening/weekend hours.
