Reports To: Head Softball Coach and Director of Athletics

Employment Type: Stipend Position (with potential for additional duties or teaching assignments depending on qualifications)

Job Summary: Newcastle High School is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Assistant Softball Coach to support the development of a competitive and character-driven softball program. The assistant coach will work under the direction of the head coach and athletic director to enhance player development, promote teamwork and sportsmanship, and uphold the standards of Newcastle Public Schools Athletics.

Responsibilities: Assist in planning and conducting daily practices, game strategies, and skill development activities.

Supervise and coach student-athletes during practices, games, and team-related events.

Promote academic accountability, positive behavior, and leadership among student-athletes.

Ensure all coaching duties comply with OSSAA, district, and school athletic policies.

Support the head coach in maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and organizing team logistics.

Collaborate with school staff and parents to promote a supportive and safe athletic environment.

Serve as a role model for student-athletes on and off the field.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Prior coaching or playing experience in softball at the high school level or higher preferred.

Must hold or be willing to obtain required Oklahoma State Department of Education coaching certification, including Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries.

Ability to pass a background check and meet all Newcastle Public Schools employment requirements.

Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Commitment to the overall development and success of student-athletes.
